======================================================= MINUTES for the first Annual Meeting of the Belfry Hill Neighborhood Association 2-5pm. Saturday, 2 March 2002. First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, Lexington ======================================================= After brief presentations by the president and treasurer, the members present unanimously voted in the by-laws and elected a new slate of directors. The new directors are listed on the our website. In the second part of the meeting, we heard presentations by Van Seasholes, the LHS principal, followed by discussions on the proposed legislation on large houses (Tony Galaitsis), and center parking issues (Paul Asquith). We also heard from all three candidates for selectman, and had a very lively question and answer session. All candidates for town-wide office were introduced, including the 10 town meeting members for Precinct 4 who were present. We think that the meeting was a great success. About 70 people turned up for the meeting, counting invited guests and candidates. At the meeting, or shortly thereafter, we signed on 9 new households as members, bringing the total to 68, representing fully one third of the households in Belfry Hill. Of these, 35 households were represented at the meeting, meaning that just over half of the member households were attending. We think that is quite an achievement for a three month old association! We are planning several events for this year, including a Bastille day garden party (very Lexingtonian when you think about it), and a late summer barbeque in Belfry Hill park. The garden party will be for members only, and the barbeque will be open to all comers. We welcome any ideas or suggestions for either event. We will also keep you posted on any developments in town government that could impact our neighborhood.
